Higher Education Conference

hosted by The University of Queensland

Thursday, October 31, 9.30am – 5.30pm
GHD Advanced Engineering Auditorium

The higher education sector is a permanently changed landscape. It needs Future Solutions now. This conference brings you the best global examples of innovative solutions for the future of our sector to respond to broken business models.
The tertiary education model needs new solutions with changes in demand for domestic and caps on international study, and rising costs and debt it brings students. Views of higher education and the skills it generates have suffered.
Governments will not come to our rescue. Meanwhile, we see innovative and disruptive solutions from private and not-for-profit institutions, backed by technology companies, private investment and employers.
The Future Solutions for Higher Education Conference will showcase, consider and debate solutions as new ways forward. It offers hope and inspiration for learning providers, employers, and learners in a reimagined learning economy.
Among those discussing solutions and the way forward are Professor Deborah Terry AC, Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of Queensland, Professor John Dewar AO, Interim Vice-Chancellor and President of University of Wollongong, Professor Helen Bartlett Vice Chancellor and President of the University of the Sunshine Coast, Professor Simon Biggs, Vice-Chancellor and President of James Cook University and Professor Chris Moran Vice Chancellor and President of UNE.
But they extend to pioneers from private and new providers including Cintana, partnering with independent higher education provider HCI and health service employer Ramsay Health Care enhancing nursing education in Australia through solutions powered by ASU. They also include Sam Jacob of Collarts in a panel facilitated by Professor Christy Collis President Elect of HERDSA and Professor Kerri-Lee Krause founding VC of the newest Australian university in Avondale and Chair of HESP.
Others currently on our stellar list of speakers include:
- Ann Kirschner, President Emerita of Hunter College of City University of New York, with a vision of a university in an AI world.
- Rose Luckin, of EDUCATE Ventures, showcasing breakthrough AI technologies, and their impact on the future of education.
- Linda Brown, CEO and President of BCorp Torrens University Australia outlining how private investment can be socially responsible.
